This beach is distinguished by an unusual quartz sand, which crunches like snow under its feet, as well as its dense population and rich infrastructure: hotels, restaurants, bars and a variety of beach activities for every taste.
Karon Beach is one of the largest and most popular in Phuket. And the abundance around the expensive hotels of international chains obliges him to be also the cleanest and well-maintained. Unlike many other beaches in Thailand, which are located in coves and bays, Karon Beach is a completely open coast. The scenery here is beautiful, but the waves, especially during the rainy season, are very strong. So the red flag on the shore is not a reinsurance, but a real risk to life.
Karon - one of the longest beaches of the island of Phuket - its length is about 3350 meters. The beach is located on the west coast of the island, 45 km from Phuket International Airport and 20 km from Phuket Town. Karon is the second largest recreation center, after Patong Beach.
How to get to Karon Beach
From Phuket airport to the resort can be reached by taxi (700-750 THB, an hour on the way). Most hotels offer their transfer to and from the airport for 1000 THB. The most budget option is on mini buses for 200-300 THB (stops are made along the way). Prices on the page are as of September 2018.
Transport
Perhaps the most budget and convenient way to travel around the resort is renting a scooter. Rental price per day from 150-200 THB. Taxis or knock-ups are also popular. Phuket Town can be reached by taxi for 450 THB, or by bus, which depart every hour for 40 THB.
A trip on a tuk-tuk to Patong will cost 400 THB (and in the opposite direction it will be cheaper, since there are much more tuk-tuk in Patong).
Beaches Karon Beach
This is the second largest beach of the island, stretching for 3 km, located about 20 km from the city of Phuket. Hotels here are presented for every taste, from 3 to 5 *, and all of them are located across the road from the cleanest, snow-white beach. That is not at all a disadvantage: the sandy strip is wide and the corresponding services constantly monitor the cleanliness. From the southern tip of the beach, there is a nice coral reef.
The southern end of the beach is called Karon Noi and stretches for 4 km.
Entertainment and Attractions Karon Beach
Restaurants, bars, travel agencies and shops are located in the north of the resort, near the main roundabout, and in the south - on a small path connecting the highway to the beach. The wide promenade of Karon has been recently reconstructed, and there are quiet restaurants, bars and shops, a night market.
Actively minded tourists can go to the Dinos Park Mini Golf golf course, which is located near the Marina Phuket Resort. The 18-hole course is designed in the style of the dinosaur era, with proper sound and light accompaniment (operating mode: 10: 00-23: 00, input 240 THB). In addition, you can go diving and snorkeling.
