10 best places in Argentina

Spanish in the way of thinking, French in lifestyle and Italian in the manner of communication - Argentina could become the most picturesque state in Europe. That's just it is separated from the Old World for more than ten thousand kilometers. But the "land of silver" is worth it to overcome this path and get to know both the Indian and the European side of its culture. Art lovers will be able to see interesting examples of architecture here, and adventure seekers in the midst of nature - to follow in the footsteps of Charles Darwin.

1. Buenos Aires

Familiarity with Argentina is better to start from the capital - Buenos Aires. The favor of fortune accompanies this city in the same way as the warm breeze (translated from Spanish Buenos Aires - “good wind”).

It is hard to imagine how, without a happy coincidence, this province, remote from key trade routes, could become a flourishing "South American Paris." Jorge Luis Borges, Viggo Mortensen and Natalia Oreiro have repeatedly confessed to the love of the Argentine capital.

Bayres (that's what the Argentines call it) is one of the most energetic cities on the continent.

To feel the spirit of the business capital, visit the high-tech quarter of Puerto Madero, located at the harbor, where yachts and cruise liners moor in the background of skyscrapers.

And to touch the history, go to Maya Square, where you are waiting for incredibly beautiful views. For example, the Pink Palace, from the balcony of which Evita Peron performed the legendary aria, the town hall and the main cathedral; the widest street in the world starts from here - Twenty-Street Street on July 9th.

Do not miss the chance to stroll along elegant avenues erected by Parisian architects. Finally, pay a visit to La Boca, the quarter recognized as the birthplace of tango. It is unthinkable motley walls and roofs of houses: this tradition was laid by sailors who painted the facades with colorful ship colors.

No less vivid are the talents of local residents. It was on the streets of La Bocca that the basics of football science was grasped by the legendary Diego Maradona. Do not try to tell the locals that Pele is a great football player. They will passionately prove to you that no one can compare with Maradona! By the way, according to the number of places for fans at football stadiums, Buenos Aires is the number 1 city in the world.

2. Iguazu Falls

Iguazu - South American response to Niagara Falls. These water giants are located on the border of two states: Argentina and Brazil. 270 falling jets became real "movie stars" after the premiere of the popular painting "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull".

Not surprisingly, it was Iguaçu who, after a worldwide vote, was recognized as one of the seven natural wonders of the world.

I advise guests Iguazu walk along the path encircling the cascade, and look at the spectacular waterfall "Devil's Throat." And, of course, look at the local park, where you can see a unique plant - Paraguayan Holly, from which they brew a popular mate drink. On average, each Argentinian uses more than 4 kilograms of this plant per year for making mate!

3. Ski resort Bariloche

The cozy town of Bariloche, surrounded by lakes and cliffs, could be called the Argentine Courchevel. Here is a world-class ski resort, where you can find 70 km of excellent trails, cozy street coffee shops and chocolate workshops.

In the local chalets rest rich and famous from all over the continent. President of the country Christina Kirchner often comes here.

In Bariloche, be sure to visit the main square - El Centro Siviko, on which the main attractions are concentrated, and try in local restaurants a delicious dish of Patagonian lamb - cordero.

4. Patagonian Glacier Perito Moreno

Before traveling to Patagonia - the region that is charming with its harsh beauty - be not only warm things, but also patience. Tourists waiting here unkind reception - piercing wind and drizzling rain. But seen landscapes will remain in memory for a long time. It is not by chance that Charles Darwin, who made an expedition to this region in 1832, wrote that Patagonia was pushing the boundaries of imagination.

Go to the Perito Moreno Glacier - the third largest freshwater reservoir in the world.

This 30-kilometer block rises above the water of Lake Argentino, like a skyscraper, sparkling with all shades of white and blue. About once every five years, a large piece of chipped off from Perito Moreno and with a crash crashes into the water.

5. Carilo Beach Resort

Carilo - Argentine Riviera, where it is especially pleasant to relax on the gentle, like powder, beige sand and plunge into the warm waters of the ocean.

And here are some great beach parties!

If you come here at the height of summer - January, February or March - it is quite possible that your neighbors on the beach will be the stars of the series “Violetta” Martin Ramsel and Mercedes Lambre. After all, Karilo is their favorite resort.

6. Mendoza’s wine paradise

Only in the province of Mendoza, you can see the real rural Argentina with its typical ranches and gaucho riders. Mendoza - the most fertile province of the country, which has become a world famous center of winemaking. It is not by chance that the capital of the region, which also bears the name Mendoza, is called "the city of the sun and good wine."

I advise you to visit this city in the period from February to April, when the harvest holiday of Vendimia is celebrated here - you are waiting for merry folk festivals and a wonderful friendly atmosphere.

7. Puerto Madryn - open-air aquarium

Puerto Madryn is an ideal place to take photographs of rare animals in their natural habitat: whales, killer whales, seals, dolphins, sea lions, birds and, of course, the Magellan penguins.

After a boat trip, take a look at one of the local restaurants to pamper yourself with the most delicious fish dishes in the country: paella de marisco (rice with seafood) and Argentinian ear calderet.

8. Salta - a corner of Spain in South America

In sunny Salta, Spain’s colonial grandeur and the temperament of Latin America are intertwined.

Despite the fact that Creoles, Arabs and descendants of Italian immigrants live in the city, Salta is considered the most Spanish city in Argentina.

Take a ride on the legendary "train in the clouds." Every Saturday this small train travels from Salta to the mountain town of San Antonio de los Cobres. It is waiting for you to travel along the bridges over the gorges at a dizzying height - 4000 meters above sea level!

9. Old Cordoba

In the very heart of the country there are small towns with European streets and old buildings.

In the capital of the province - Cordoba - look at the first university in the country, which this year marks the 4th century, and the cathedral, where the present Pope Francis worked as a confessor many years ago.

And do not forget to visit the serene town Kumbresitu, able to charm any traveler.

10. Surf Center Mar del Plata

Astor Piazzola’s composer’s hometown, Mar del Plata, offers almost unlimited opportunities for a family beach holiday.

But besides families, the place was chosen by lovers of extreme sports - surfers, windsurfers and kiters.

After all, ride the waves here all year round. But it is worth coming here in November - at the height of the Mar del Plata film festival. So you can not only enjoy surfing, but also meet on the waterfront city of world stars.
