10 UNIQUE PLACES OF UKRAINE THAT SHOULD BE SEEN EVERY

Ukrainian lands are rich in various natural and architectural wonders. Sometimes they are very close, but due to the poorly developed tourism industry, no one knows about them. In addition, poorly developed infrastructure and the complete lack of roads often become an obstacle. However, such amazing places do not become less interesting because of this. They keep their legends and traditions away from human eyes and the benefits of civilization.

Shrines and temples of flooded Gusinets

The ancient village of Gusintsy was located on the left bank of the Dnieper, opposite Rzhishchev. During the flooding of the area by the Kanevsky reservoir, only the Transfiguration Church with the bell tower of 1822 of construction was left of it. It is commonly called the Savior on the Water, as it is located on one of the formed islands and serves as a reminder of the former settlement.

The temple stood for a long time abandoned. However, in 2008, the church and bell tower were inspected for conservation. And in 2012, the structures were completely restored, and the foundation was strengthened.

Nearby, closer to the channel of the Dnieper and the city of Rzhishchev is the Witch Island. This is the former Bald Mountain, which served for the covens of witches, and in ancient times there were pagan temples. It is believed through energy on the mountain there is virtually no vegetation. Perhaps now, hidden in the floodplains of the Dnieper, the mountain serves unclean forces.

Now this area is united in the Landscape Reserve of local importance "Boryspil Islands". However, under the waters of the reservoir, numerous streets, the remains of houses and a rich historical past remain hidden.

The death of the ancient village of Chuchin

The area is located on the outskirts of the village of Balyko-Schuchinka, Kagarlitsky district. Today, a small and picturesque village, was once a powerful defensive fortification. This is evidenced by numerous archaeological finds, as well as the remains of city ramparts, which date back to the 11th century.

The ancient city is mentioned in the annals under 1110 as a defensive point against the Polovtsy. It is believed that the city was destroyed in the first half of the XIII century during the invasion of the Mongols, or the Batu horde.

The area is located in the west of Balyko-Schuchinki on a hill. It offers a fantastic view of the Kanevsky reservoir. The panorama that opens to sight is simply amazing.

Despite the picturesque, tragic events also occurred here during the Second World War. The Bukrinsky bridgehead memorial is here. It is he who is associated with this hill in the first place. From here, the Soviet command planned to begin the liberation of Kiev. However, due to inept command and poor preparation for the battle, two offensive operations failed. This led to tremendous casualties. According to official information, 250,000 Soviet soldiers died during the capture of the bridgehead. In memory of the heroic death of soldiers, a memorial complex of impressive size was erected here. Within its limits are mass graves with thousands of dead.

Buki Landscape Park

The park is located in the village of Buki, Skvirsky district, Kiev region. It is unique in that it was founded by the Squire entrepreneur in 1996. In contrast, from the popular parks of Ukraine, which we have left from our ancestors and survived centuries.

The park was built around the Rostavitsa River. Within the village, it has rocky shores, rapids and is surrounded by stones. In addition to natural cascading waterfalls, there is a large artificial one. Several panoramic bridges are thrown across the river, and arbors are installed on the banks. During the development of the park, the old mill was converted into a mini-hydroelectric power station.

The park has many sculptures, bas-reliefs and an interesting fountain. One of its pearls is the holy stone that was brought from Israel. According to legend, it is taken from the area where Jesus turned water into wine.

On the other side of the river is the Church of the Holy Great Martyr Eugene with a bell tower and chapels. The temple was built in 2010. Its architecture, as well as the landscape of the park, is unique and was designed specifically for Bukov. Nearby is the zoo, "Fairy Glade" and the patron of the philanthropy that funded the construction.

Entrance to the park is free. The cost of entering the zoo, meadow and the estate itself is symbolic. The park is in excellent condition, everything is new and well maintained, so it is worth a visit.

City of inspiration and scenery

This is the name of the town of Sednev, located in the Chernihiv region. Few people have heard of him, however, Sednev can compete even with Chernigov for his legends, architecture and landscapes. And the first mention of it dates back to 1068, as a fortified city.

Sednev is located on the bank of the meandering river Snake like a snake. In its vicinity there are many swamps, smoothers and small tributaries of the picturesque river. And despite the fact that the terrain in the Chernihiv region is flat near Sednev there are several mountains. On one of them is built a gazebo of Leonid Glebov. It offers a fantastic view. The arbor was not named so by accident, it is believed that it was here that the poet sought inspiration and wrote his "Sorrow".

The city houses the House of the Union of Artists. And this is no accident, Sednev was repeatedly depicted on the canvases of artists of various times. Here, picturesque landscapes and ancient temples are very successfully contrasted.

One of the oldest shrines is the Church of St. Gregory the Victorious. It was built in 1745 in the tract Koronny Castle, which was part of the ancient settlement of Snovsk. It was in this church that the film "Viy" was shot - 1967. An important fact is that the church was built without a single nail.

Another shrine is the Resurrection Church with a bell tower, built in 1880. It was laid as the tomb of local philanthropists Lizogubov. There were 44 burial places, most of which in Soviet times were mothballed and transported.

In Sednev, the oldest stone residential building of the Left Bank, the Lizogubov stony brick, has been preserved. It dates from the 17th century. The tomb and the moorhen are located in the Lizogubov estate. The main buildings of which are also well preserved. However, the interior needs restoration. It is worth recalling that T.G. Shevchenko - there is even a monument to him.

The kingdom of waterfalls and stones

In the south-west of the village of Zlynka, Kirovograd region there is a rocky tract "Cascades". It is located on the banks of the picturesque river Buki. The tract was formed by one of the most ancient tectonic plates that come to the surface here. These rocks formed about 2 billion years ago.

There are practically no such natural miracles in central Ukraine. After all, step prevails here. The boulders and boulders that protrude from the water are very majestic and even have their own names. Some rocks form natural waterfalls, which adds to the place's beauty and uniqueness.

There are caves under a block of water. During research, they found that there remained ancient symbols and inscriptions. It is believed that once there was a Scythian sanctuary. Many people come to the tract to be charged with positive energy and restore moral strength. Also, under one of the waterfalls, a well is hollowed out in granite. Its depth is more than 20 meters.

In the tract grows many rare plants listed in the Red Book. The fauna is also very diverse. 58 species of animals living around are protected by the Berne Convention.

The best guards of the area are poor roads and the absence of large cities. Therefore, here everything can be seen in almost untouched form. However, one must not forget about the cleanliness of the environment and take it away when visiting a unique geological attraction.

Canyon of the Cimmerian Princess

The canyon is located on the Kamenka River, not far from the village of Tokovskoye, Apostolsky District, and Dnipropetrovsk Region. The rocks that protrude here - frame the river and form cascading waterfalls with a total height of 6 meters.

There is an interesting legend about the origin of the canyon. It tells us that once the Cimmerian princess Tamiris wanted to catch the Scythians. And when she ran away from her pursuers, she came across a small river on the way. Stream agreed to help the girl in exchange for her necklace. The princess threw the jewelry into the river, and when the Scythians came to the water, it thundered, blocks of stones grew from the ground and covered the pursuers.

The rocks forming a canyon are remnants of ancient mountains. The breed of stone is red granites, which are considered a quality material for facing. These granites lend themselves perfectly to processing. Therefore, there are several quarries around the picturesque canyon. To get to it you will need to circle the winding roads.

The area around the river is really very picturesque and romantic. Here you can have a good rest on the weekend, and the rumbling of river recessions is heard from afar.

The city on the rocky shores

The city of Kamenskoye (until 2016 - Dneprodzerzhinsk) is known as an industrial center, but it has a rich history. There are many architectural monuments of the past. Soviet-era buildings and industrial premises contrast sharply with the old buildings and unique landscapes of the Dnieper.

Settlements in the city were in the Paleolithic era. And in the days of Kievan Rus, an important trade route passed here - "from the Varangians to the Greeks."

The first settlement that arose on the site of Kamensky was called Romankovo. It, like the surrounding settlements, was laid down by Zaporizhzhya Cossacks in the 1st half of the 17th century. The name Kamenskoye was given because the Dnieper banks were very steep and rocky due to flooding by the reservoir.

One of the sights from the past is the Church of St. Nicholas, built in 1895. It is one of the few Roman Catholic churches preserved in the east of Ukraine.

Another church - St. Michael's Cathedral, was founded by order of the Russian Emperor Nicholas II in 1894. The construction order was given after an unsuccessful attempt on the emperor in Japan. The bell tower was later completed and several rebuilds were made.

Of the interesting buildings of the city it is worth highlighting the Museum of the History of the City, the Musical Drama Theater named after Lesia Ukrainka and the Central City Library.

There are several islands within the city on the Dnieper. From land they can be reached by bridges from which magnificent panoramas open. The islands have cozy beaches.

Optimistic cave

The cave has impressive dimensions. It is considered the longest gypsum cave in the world and the longest in Eurasia as a whole. Optimistic takes fifth place in size, among all the caves in the world. It is located near the village of Korolevka, Borshchivsky district, Ternopil region.

The cave was found by chance. In 1965, when the Vetrovaya cave was explored, local boys showed the cavers a stream that disappears underground. Then to dig a place failed. However, the researchers returned a year later and opened the cave. From the very beginning it was forecasted to be longer than 3 km. Currently, more than 250 km of its corridors have been investigated.

This name was given to the find because researchers who studied the cave were called "optimists."

The optimistic cave is divided into 10 districts that have certain morphological differences. They are interconnected by one or more moves. The most beautiful galleries are: Karaganda, Golden Snake, Pushkin, the Milky Way.

The most beautiful area is considered "Zaozerny". To get to it you have to overcome a path of 5 km. Moreover, it is not always possible to go to full height and you need to overcome the blockage in the hall of "Aqua Vita". However, the daredevils who nevertheless get here are waiting for the grandiose sizes of the halls, multi-colored walls and crystals of various sizes.

Resort in the arms of the Dniester

The city of Zalishchyky is located in the Ternopil region on the left bank of the Dniester. The river goes around the village so that it may seem like it is on an island. However, the Dniester River washes the Zalishchiki from only three sides. The channel goes around the city creating excellent conditions for relaxation and unique landscapes.

The picturesque place where the Zalishchyky settled down attracted residents here at all times. This is confirmed by archaeological finds. Here were found monuments from the Paleolithic, as well as Trypillian, Lipitsk, Early Slovian and Old Russian cultures.

The city has long been part of Poland. Here was one of the most popular resorts in the country, which was visited even by Joseph Pilsudski. Now in Zalishchyky you can also have a great rest. There are many sandy beaches, nearby are hotels and recreation centers. Those who wish can go fishing on the Dniester.

In Zalishchyky festivals and other cultural events are held annually.

Architectural monuments testify to the rich historical past. The most interesting of them are: the Bronitsky Barons Palace, the royal military barracks, the headman and court house, the People’s House and a number of ancient temples.

White Croats Residence

An ancient settlement between the villages of Stilsko and Dubrava in the Lviv region. The heyday of life in the settlement, approximately IX-X centuries. Another name for it is Stolsky fortification.

The settlement is a full-fledged rock city with caves, altars and underground labyrinths. The area of the fortified settlement was about 250 hectares, and the fortifications lasted 10 km. Around the mountain settlement, a number of residential and farm buildings were excavated, as well as the bricks left from the ancient White Road. In the surrounding area, archaeologists also found traces of ancient settlements, temples and necropolises.

The stolskoye fortification is considered one of the oldest Slavic settlements. Archaeologists believe that this is a unique monument of ancient Ukrainian culture and history.

In 2001, the settlement was entered into the State Register of Immovable Monuments of Ukraine. In the historical area, it was planned to create a historical and cultural reserve. However, contrary to international recognition of the unique monument and regulations, the study of the settlement was stopped. Therefore, the Ukrainian cultural heritage remains on the sidelines of history.
