Sri Lanka, with its lush and exotic nature, has strict Buddhist traditions for the preservation of the animal and plant world. In Sri Lanka, you can find multi-tiered forests of hundreds of species of trees with hanging aerial and standing roots, like boards. Trees are twined with vines, orchids are molded to the trunks. There are many monkeys in the jungle, deer, lemurs, brightly colored birds, huge butterflies. With the onset of the evening, leopards, whom the locals call tigers, become the absolute masters of the jungle. Wild elephants survived in Sri Lanka.

National Park Udavalave
170 km from Colombo, in the dry zone of Ratnapura, where flood meadows alternate with groves of valuable trees, this amazing park is spread. Large herds of elephants and several species of deer, wild boars, buffaloes, jackals and porcupines are the main inhabitants of the park.
Yalla National Park
Located 309 km from Colombo on the southeastern coast of Sri Lanka. The park is very popular with tourists. In the evening, when the heat subsides, the animals go to the reservoirs. At this time, elephants, deer, buffalo, crocodiles, monitor lizards, and many other animals and birds can be observed at close range. To preserve the livestock of elephants, which in the wild, there are about 6000 individuals, an elephant nursery was created in Pinnawala.
The elephant nursery in Pinnawela was opened to visitors on February 17, 1975. This includes young animals left without parents or affected by poachers. In the nursery, elephants are raised, after which some of them are sent to zoos around the world, others are trained to work in Ceylon. The youngest elephants - about 4 months. In the nursery, tourists will have a unique opportunity to watch these animals at close range and, if lucky, to see how the youngest elephants are fed from a bottle with milk.
