Some of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean are located in the Dominican Republic. Here you will find exactly what you need, whether:
1. comfortable rest on the resort beaches of the category "all inclusive";
2. secluded and wild strips of sand, allowing you to get away from people;
3. or something in between.
In the northern part of the island, the coast consists of endless beaches with soft sand. Some of them are literally a paradise for lovers of surfing and kitesurfing. Others offer excellent conditions for relaxing swimming or snorkelling and snorkelling.
The Caribbean coast of the southern part of the island is distinguished by the presence of both sandy and pebbly beaches, depending on the specific region.
At the very east of the island, where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Caribbean Sea, is the area of Punta Cana, which has magnificent beaches and luxury resorts.
1. Bavaro Beach, Punta Cana
Punta Cana is the main destination for those targeting beach resorts. Fans of sunbathing come here in huge quantities to relax on the soft sandy beaches of the resorts, organized on the principle of "all inclusive".
The most beautiful coastal area, of course, is the beach of Bavaro, located just north of the city of Punta Cana. The calm waters of the Caribbean at this place are ideal for swimming and swimming. The color of the water has a characteristic turquoise hue for the region, which extends far beyond the limits of the beach area, right up to the protective protective reef.
Boats and sailing yachts swim only outside the bathing area (for them there is a separate pier). The sand stretches along the coast for several kilometers, which makes the beach ideal for walking with a view to “see people”.
There are several well-known chain hotels near Bavaro, including the Iberostar Grand Hotel Bavaro, the adults-only hotel Barcelo Bavaro Beach and the Grand Palladium Bavaro Suites Resort & Spa complex
2. Rincon Beach
The remote and not very built-up Rincon beach is a textbook tropical beach, which seems to have come off the postcard with its white sand. To complete the picture, add here the flickering bluish waves washing the coast.
Along the beach there are tall palm trees that provide shade. On the one hand of the territory, a protected cove allows you to safely swim. Slightly in the distance, from the opposite bank of the bay, mountains covered with dense greens rise.
The only buildings in the area is a small restaurant and a couple of snack tents near the parking zone.
Rincon Beach is located on the Samana Peninsula. Usually, they get here by a half-hour boat ride from the town of Las Galeras or by car, which also takes half an hour. The road has a hard surface and is in good condition almost all the way. However, right next to the beach there are potholes and dirt. However, on an ordinary car you can still drive here.
If you want to hire a boat, you just need to go down to the water in the town of Las Galeras in the place where the main city road runs into the ocean. It is easy to find a person who takes you to the right place. Boats go straight from the beach.
Many hotels are happy to help you organize a trip to Rincon Beach.
If you prefer to travel by car, we recommend you to spend the whole day on the trip to the beach. In this case, you can look to the rocky crevice of Boca del Diablo (Devil's Mouth). To do this, however, will have to make a fifteen-minute hook on a rough dirt road.
3. Cayo-Levantado
Cayo Levantado Island is ideal for those whose holiday goal is to relax on a beautiful beach. This remote piece of land off the coast of the Samana Peninsula is surrounded by soft sand beaches and shallow turquoise waters. In addition, there is a luxury resort complex "Luxury Bahia Principe Cayo Levantado".
The island has three beaches connected by footpaths. These beaches are reasonably considered to be the most beautiful in the entire Dominican Republic.
The aforementioned resort complex is available only for adults and works on the principle of "all inclusive". The nearest airport to the island is Samana El Catey International Airport.
4. Dorada Beach, Puerto Plata.
This place is the main resort beach on the Amber Coast. A vast stretch of golden sand stretches along the coast east of Puerto Plata. The beach boasts breathtaking mountain scenery, palm trees and clear turquoise water. That is exactly what tourists are looking for in such places.
Resort complexes located here do not rise above the natural beauty. Building codes limit the height of buildings to a maximum of three floors. In addition, each complex is at a sufficient distance from the other. For the tourist area, where more than a dozen hotels are located, the Dorada beach managed to keep the original beauty of nature well enough.
Almost all local resorts belong to the middle and high-class segment. Most of them operate on the principle of "all inclusive" and have in the territory of one or two pools, as well as their own restaurants.
Among the best resorts of this beach we note:
1. Large complex “Iberostar Costa Dorada”;
2. More elegant resort "VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort";
3. Romantic hotel "Casa Colonia Beach & Spa".
The last option is a stylish high-class hotel, in which only 50 rooms (but all - of excellent quality) and impeccable service.
5. Las Galeras beaches
The already mentioned beach of Rincon, which is located near the town of Las Galeras, has repeatedly been included in the lists of the best beaches of the Dominican Republic. However, the remaining places along the coast of the city deserve no less attention, despite the fact that they are less known among tourists. After literally 15 minutes from the main beach in any direction, you will definitely come across a more beautiful, and, most importantly, less crowded beach. Here you can quietly and in relative silence lie right on the sand or on a rented sunbed.
The entire coastal area of Las Galeras is decorated with coconut palms, and the local shallow waters are shimmering with various shades of greenish blue. It will be difficult to find something similar to the north coast of the island.
We also recommend visiting directly the charming little town of Las Galeras, which, without exaggeration, is a little-known treasure of the Dominican Republic.
Just a short walk from the city to the west is the wild beach of La Playita, whose calm, shallow waters are great for swimming. The natural atmosphere is disturbed by only a few merchants who rent you chairs and sun beds.
To the east of Las Galeras, also a ten minute walk across the palm landings, is the tranquil turquoise beach of the Grand Paradise Samana - the only full-fledged resort in the area.
If you are looking for something more “Caribbean” in its atmosphere, we recommend something between the main beach and the wild beach of La Playita, namely, the colonial-style resort complex “Villa Serena Hotel”, located right by the ocean.
6. Kite Beach, Cabarete
When it comes to water sports, this beach can be called one of the most widely known in the Caribbean. It is considered the best place for kitesurfing, being also popular with windsurfers. It is here that the annual championship in water sports “Master of the Ocean” takes place, which includes competitions in various types of surfing. The championship is held almost annually at the end of February. However, in 2017 there was no competition.
The atmosphere on the beach is very friendly, including for beginners in water sports. Those interested can take kitesurfing lessons at local sports schools.
7. Cabarete Beach, Cabarete
This beach, which stretches along the coast near the city of Cabarete, is more suitable for lovers of atmospheric places than lovers of turquoise waters. The beach is quite beautiful and, moreover, one of the few in the area is quite calm for various types of swimming.
The shallow water stretches for a long distance from the shore, which makes the beach more attractive for holidaymakers with children than other options.
However, the real value of this place is its atmosphere. Simple but stylish thatched-roofed restaurants stand along the beach, right on the sand. You can dine under the stars in one of these fancy restaurants or listen to live music in the early evening.
Near the beach, someone always plays volleyball or football.
The most tranquil areas of this beach are great for practicing water sports beginners. True, novice surfers are still encouraged to practice near the shore.
Unlike other beaches of the Caribbean coast, here you will not see motor boats.
This is not the type of beach where high-end resort complexes dominate, and there are not very many all-inclusive hotels in Cabarete. However, here you can find several luxurious coastal hotels, the main of which are:
1. "Velero Beach Resort";
2. “Millennium Resort & Spa”;
3. and Ultraviolet Boutique Residences.
8. Bahia de las Aguilas
The relatively remote and beautiful beach of Bahía de Águilas can, without exaggeration, be called one of the most undervalued in the Dominican Republic. It is located near the town of Pedernales on the Caribbean coast, near the border of Haiti. The beach occupies about 8 kilometers of sandy beach and is part of the National Park “Jaragua”, which, in turn, is marked by UNESCO as a significant nature reserve.
Calm, crystal clear waters and white sand make this beach one of the most attractive in the country. At the same time, it remains one of the least visited. In terms of tourist infrastructure, the beach, as well as the surrounding area, is completely undeveloped. Most visitors stay in Barahona, and come here for the whole day.
9. Juan Dolio Beach
The small coastal town of Juan Dolio is a suitable place for those who are looking for excitement and fun. The local beach consists of golden sand and palm landings. It is great for various wave games and sunbathing.
The beach is located on the coast between the cities of Santo Domingo and Punto Cana. There are quite a lot of tourists, both foreign and local. Nearby you can find resort complexes of a very different plan, including those where "all inclusive".
Serdy excellent options can be noted:
1. Hotel mid-level «Emotions by Hodepa»;
2. A more upscale complex "Xeliter Costa del Sol Juan Dolio".
10. Beach Fronton
This beach has almost no infrastructure. This is not surprising, because it is available either through a boat trip, or by a four-hour hike.
The purest waters, soft sand and palm trees are complemented by an impressive rocky landscape, which creates a truly surreal look. Nothing like in the Dominican Republic is not found.
Boats here depart from the small town of Las Galeras, which is the last town along the main road of the Samana Peninsula. If it seemed to you that you reached the edge of the world in Las Galeras, this impression will only intensify when you sit in a boat and go on a forty-minute walk to a forgotten beach. Please note that in the first half of the day the beach is well lit by the sun, and in the second it is covered by the shadow of a rocky cliff.
